Year 11 Material Technology

Although this years timetables are yet to be finalised, course selection is now finished. Any changes to student courses will now take place next year.

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Hodson.

Material Technology

Prerequisite: Year 10MTL

Students will have the opportunity to take a multi-material approach to solving design problems. These can include but are not limited to electronics, plastics, metal and wood.

This year the students will complete two projects. The first project will be an engraved image set in a wooden frame with LED lighting. The students will learn skills that are transferable to other projects. The second project will be based around a set context and issue. Students will need to research, test ideas, design and create a product that solves an issue. We look at ways to refine a product so that the end result is purpose built and meets a need. Students will learn about how to approach tasks, problem solve and follow a design process.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Materials $100 per year.
