NCEA Level 3 Gateway

Prerequisite: Entry to this course is by interview with the Gateway Co-ordinator. Students must demonstrate a clear career interest.
Assessment: Students complete a minimum of 20 employment-related Level 3 credits and a work placement of 5-10 days.
The Gateway programme is designed to strengthen the pathway between school and the workplace, helping students gain confidence in making the transition from school to work.
During Gateway classes, students work on employment and industry based Unit Standards relating to an area of career interest.
Students attend their work experience placement one day per week for 5-10 weeks. Placements usually commence in Term 1 or 2, with the aim of being completed by the end of Term 3.
There are three space available each year for students to study on the Level 3 Police Pathway Programme. Students interested in the Police as a career can contact Careers staff in Q104 for information on the application process.
