In Genesis 1 we read about how God created the earth around us and how we are to manage the resources in this world for the benefit of everyone. In Geography, we study how people interact with this environment that God has provided for us
Geography gives students the skills and knowledge to better understand the world around them. To help students prepare for future challenges like climate change, economic disparities, resource depletion and achieving sustainable development, we study the following themes relating to people’s interaction with their environment. These include:
- Tongariro - A Volcanic Environment (a study of a large natural environment)
- CSI Chicago (the patterns of crime in urban environments)
- Rich World, Poor World (a study of countries at different levels of development – USA, NZ and Tanzania)
- Aids - a disease of poverty? (the global pattern of HIV/AIDS).
Students will have the opportunity to carry out field work during a three day field trip to the Tongariro National Park as part of their studies.
