Students are encouraged to choose an additional back-up subject.

Students may see what they have chosen by clicking on "View Selected Subjects".

NOTE: the system will require you to indicate your 'leaving destination' before any subject can be committed as a choice. You can do this either as the first step by clicking the Leaving Destination menu item on the left or waiting until you commit the first subject and you are stopped from doing so until you complete 'leaving destination'.

If you are returning then you choose the first option - 'Returning to Bethlehem College'

ACADEMIC PROGRAMME

In order to give Y10 students valuable experience at NCEA, some subjects will offer students the opportunity to gain credits at NCEA Level 1 in one or two standards. This will help students gain the necessary experience to tackle a full programme of standards in Year 11.

All Year 10 students will study the following core subjects, which will be automatically entered for them:

·       English

·       Science

·       Biblical Foundations

·       Mathematics

·       Social Studies

·       Physical Education

In addition, students will need to select FOUR optional subjects. Accelerate students in Year 10 sit NCEA Level 1 Mathematics. Some other courses offer one or two standards of NCEA Level 1 which will contribute towards NCEA Certificate Level 1.

The following new subjects are introduced at Y10, Agricultural and Horticultural Science continues as a subject through to Y13 and Enterprise Studies which provides a foundation for Economics and Accounting as subjects at Y11, both of which continue through to Y13.

Each of the optional subjects will be studied for a semester (approx. two terms). For most students, two subjects will be studied in the first part of the year and two in the second half of the year.

Students will be required to select FOUR subjects from the list below of option subjects. One must be from Line 1, one from Line 2. Then you can choose any other 2 subjects.
